Coach Debbie Head Coach: Debbie Johnson

Co-Founder and Director of Aquatic Times Swim Academy and Co-Publisher of Aquatic Times Online Magazine with her husband Gordon

Coach Debbie has 35 years under her belt as head and assistant swim coach, and 40 years as a swim instructor, coaching for Vallejo Aquatic Club Sharks, Lake County Channel Cats, Gehringer Park, Bishop Estates, Antioch Delta Skimmers and volunteer coaching for Walnut Heights Otters where her daughter Holly was head coach the last four years. She also assisted Concord's world-class Terrapins with their Age Group Development, Age Group Elite and Senior Development programs, as well as coaching their spring and fall clinics for a few years. She has worked with swimmers of all ages and ability levels, from beginning to pre-national. Her specialty is developing new swimmers into experienced competitive swimmers.

Involved in swimming year 'round, Coach Debbie also runs Aquatic Times Swim Academy's (ATSA) lessons program, and is highly successful at teaching ages 2-Adult, from non-swimmers to competitive swimmers to open water swimmers. In addition, she co-ordinates and coaches ATSA Competitive Stroke, Dive/Start and Turn/Underwater Clinics and is up-to-date with the latest and most efficient techniques.

She really enjoys the social part of swimming and camaraderie, as well, and looks very forward to meeting all the Rudgear Meadows families and helping the "team" grow, build, improve, prosper and become a successful team. As a matter of fact, over the past few years, 16 Rudgear Meadows families have attended Aquatic Times Swim Academy's Fall and Spring Clinics and their other lesson programs!

Besides being a swim coach, Debbie is a professional vocalist and a part-time private school teacher, teaching upper elementary grades and Jr. High Writing and Literature, Consumer & Business Math and a Music and Performing Arts program she developed. Debbie loves being a wife and mom & everything that goes with it! She also enjoys ministering in song at church and many other functions, and speaking to and encouraging fellow homeschool moms at special events.

Debbie and Gordon have three grown children who have taught or are still coaching and teaching swimming. Their 18-year-old son, Jonathan, is swimming for RMST and their daughters live on their own – one, a private school teacher in the Bay Area; the other, WHO’s former head coach, Holly, got married in December and now lives temporarily on the east coast where her wonderful husband, Daniel, serves our country in the Navy.

Coach Debbie often kiddingly remarks that she's addicted to chlorine... "I love the smell and atmosphere of a pool and enjoy so much making a difference in our swimmers' lives, not only in the swimming realm, but in life in general. I love what I do! It's not just about swimming, it's about building life skills and life-long relationships. I'm very excited and feel very blessed to be able to work in the field I enjoy so much!"

Coach Gordon Coach: Gordon Johnson

Hi Seals!
It’s great to be part of the SEAL family! I’m having a great time and am looking forward to getting to know everyone. Even though I’m a part-time coach, I’m hoping to be able to work with all the different age groups and their coaches. I can’t wait for meets to start!
My main job at RMST this summer is, to coach “AREA 51” and work with the AREA 51 coaches. As the AREA 51 coach, I will have a chance to work with a lot of different swimmers on the team. I would like to tell you more about AREA 51, however, it’s “Classified…” “Top Secret…” and I can’t put anything about it on the web. You can talk to me before or after practice or at the meets if you would like to know more about what we hope to accomplish in AREA 51.

LETS GO SEALS!

Coach Jonathan Assistant Coach: Jonathan Johnson

I have been swimming my entire life and have been on a swim team since the age of seven (1998), and am still swimming (I just finished my first year with the DVC swim team, and am swimming for RMST this year.). At the height of my swimming career (so far), I swam part-time with the Terrapin National Group, splitting that time with the Senior D Group. In the rec scene, I have made county every year since 1999, some of those years in every stroke.

My coaching career has a long history, as well. I've been teaching competive and learn-to-swim lessons from children to adults since spring of 2003 at the age of 12 and a half for my parents' swim academy, Aquatic Times, and I am still coaching for them. But, lessons is not the only experience I have coaching swimming. I have also coached 6-14-year-old swimmers on other teams - Antioch Delta Skimmers, 2004-2005; Gehringer Gators, 2005; and, Walnut Heights 2006-2008. Additionally, in 2007-2008, I lifeguarded and taught child learn-to-swim and advanced swim lessons at Concord Community Pool.

Over the years, I have developed a rich sense of stroke technique and coaching stratagies that I can't wait to bring to RMST. I look forward to swimming and coaching for RMST. GO SEALS!!!

Coach Danielle Junior Coach: Danielle Stewart

Hi everyone! My name is Danielle Stewart. I am currently a senior at Las Lomas High School and on the varsity team for swimming this year.

I began swimming at the age of three and have been swimming for Rudgear Meadows since I was five years old. My two favorite strokes are butterfly and backstroke.

I am very excited to be joining the coaching staff this season and look forward to seeing everyone on the pool deck. Let's have an awesome summer.

SEALS ROCK!

Coach Kim Junior Coach: Kim Cattarusa

My name is Kim Cattarusa and I have been swimming for Rudgear Meadows every summer since I was four years old. This year, I am graduating from San Ramon Valley High School and will be heading off to college in the fall.

For the past two summers, I have enjoyed coaching the Seal Pups and this summer, I am very excited to begin coaching some of the other age groups!

I can't wait to meet all of the new swimmers and help everyone work hard, improve their stroke, have fun and have a great season!

Coach Tori Junior Coach: Tori Selway

My name is Tori Selway and I have been swimming on Rudgear Meadows for 12 years. I am currently a junior at Carondelet High School in Concord where I am a member of the varsity swimming and water polo teams.

My top favorite things about swimming are backstroke, my favorite stroke, making new friends and dropping time after a summer’s worth of hard practicing!

I am really looking forward to this season because swimming is such a passion in my life and I am excited to share that with others!

Coach Thomas Junior Coach: Thomas Maiuri

My name is Thomas Maiuri and I have been on RMST since I was 4. I have gone all the way from seal pup to 15-18. I am currently enrolled in Las Lomas High School and I will become a senior this summer.

There is nothing better than to hang out with RMST's swimmers during the summer. Everybody makes it a fun and eventful activity to do.

I will make this year as fun as any other one, with the help from the other coaches.

Go RMST!!

Coach Steven Seal Pup Coach: Steven Maiuri

My name is Steven Maiuri and I have been part of Rudgear Meadows Swim Team since I was four, and now I am very excited to teach the seal pups. This team is such a big part of my life and it means a lot to me that I am able to coach the seal pups.

I am currently a freshman at Las Lomas High School and was part of the Swim Team. I also coach pre season and I hope that will give me the skills that I need to improve my coaching skills. Coaching is a really fun thing for me to do because I get to teach young kids how to swim as I was taught years ago.

My favorite strokes are freestyle and backstroke and hope to drop off seconds from my high school time. I am so excited that I finally to get to be a coach bacause this is what I have wanted for so long after watching our coaches over the past years teaching our swimmers to become more and more skilled at swimming. This is what I am hoping to do this summer.

GO SEALS!

Coach Tatiana Seal Pup Coach: Tatiana Cafaro

Hey Everyone!! My name is Tatiana Cafaro and I have been a seal ever since I was 4 years old. I will be a junior next fall at Carondelet High School.

I am SO excited to be coaching for the Sealpups this year. I love this team so much and would do anything for it. As for previous experience, I was a coach’s aid last year for the 6&unders- 11/12s during pre-season.

I can’t wait to be able to take what I know about swimming and what I know about the team’s traditions and share it with all of you guys, but also have fun at the same time. I am so glad I could finally join the coaching community, for this is what I’ve wanted ever since I was little, when I would watch my brother coach. We are all a family, and I’m ecstatic to be apart of it.

SUMMER 2009! HERE WE COME!

RMST IS THE BEST!!
